The Easiest Way to Turn “Healthy” Muffins Into a Homemade Moment

(Inspired by our friends at Better Than Provisions)

There are plenty of good recipes out there. AND every once in a while, one reminds you why you started caring about what goes into your food in the first place.

That’s what happened when we baked Better Than Provisions Grain-Free Banana Nut Muffins.

They’re everything you want in a morning treat — simple, grain-free, and packed with real ingredients that make you feel good.

We discovered one tiny twist to make these muffins taste even more like home: a drizzle of Daddy’s Homemade All-Natural Syrup.

Better Than Provisions nailed this one.

Their grain-free muffin mix starts with bananas, egg, and fine almond flour — ingredients that give you that perfect texture without the heaviness of traditional baking.

When you add ripe bananas, you get natural sweetness without tons of added sugar. We recognize, however, a touch of extra sweetness can make any muffin more enjoyable (especially when your banana’s aren’t super ripe yet).

Here’s where we found our moment: instead of using plain vanilla extract or leaving the muffins as-is, we swapped in Daddy’s Homemade Vanilla Syrup for a natural - slightly sweetened flavor.

Then, right out of the oven, we topped them with a warm drizzle of Daddy’s Cinnamon Vanilla Syrup for the perfect finish.

The result? A muffin that gives you a delicious, indulgent, quite luxury moment - but still fits your clean, intentional lifestyle.

    Ingredients:

    12 servings (1 serving = 1 muffin)

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray silicone muffin tin with cooking spray or use a regular muffin tin with parchment liners.
    2. In a food processor (or high speed blender), add bananas, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, salt and process until smooth.
    3. Add almond flour and process just enough to combine. Pause, scrape the sides and process briefly again to combine. Be sure to not over mix. With a spoon or spatula, gently fold in chocolate chips and granola.
    4. Using an ice cream scoop, divide batter between 12 openings of the muffin tin and bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out clean. Check at 25 minutes to be sure not to over bake.
    5. Remove from the oven, let cool for 20 minutes. Enjoy!

    Notes:

    • Beautify - While still warm, drizzle a touch more syrup on top for that perfect glossy finish.
    • Make Ahead: You can prepare the batter, minus the leavening agents, up to a day in advance. Leave it covered in the refrigerator and mix in the baking powder and soda before baking.
    • Storing: Store muffins at room temperature for 2-3 days or within the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
    • Freezing: Freeze in layers separated by parchment paper. They will store in the freezer for up to three months.

Pro Tip: While still warm, drizzle a touch more syrup on top for that perfect glossy finish.
